The Western Oregon University Food Pantry (WOU Food Pantry) was launched in September of 2012 in response to the campus-wide issue of food insecurity throughout our campus. This student-led and student-run resource has a mission to reduce the dilemma of food insecurity on Western's campus and in the Monmouth-Independence community. The Food Pantry is coordinated by the ASWOU Director of the Food Pantry, Rebecca Hardgrave and Assistant Director Tiffanie Bowles, and a team of dedicated volunteers.
Students, faculty, volunteers, and supporters strive to increase awareness of the Food Pantry.
The Food Pantry also holds campus food drives and food-related programs. They utilize donation boxes, food donation bins, advertisements, and information pamphlets to educate WOU students about the Food Pantry.
